Hello all
I finally managed to publish my site using filezilla ( as xsitepro doesn't work ) and all looks ok. but when i use the site and go back to homepage the link is broken.
Could anybody tell me how to fix this as it worked when i previewed the site in xsitepro.
The site is http://www.compost-buddy.co.uk

That is usually caused by something incorrect in your Publishing Details screen.

I also use an FTP program to upload my sites since my server uses SFTP and Xsitepro does not support that. On the publishing details screen I fill in the domain name where it says Domain Name and leave the Home Directory field blank. Don't put public_html in there.

Hello, i tried that and no that didn't work either. I even deleted the site completely and re built it from scratch only for this to happen again.
The homepage is up with everything else, it's the link back that s broken.

Just noticed that when i place the curser over Home on the left tool bar it says compost-buddy.co.uk/ public_html, every other button says the correct page name.
I have absolutely no clue as to why this has happened or how to fix it. In my public html it says index.html.

In xsitepro do you have ticked - make this page my home page?

Yes it does need to be ticked. Just asking was it ticked so to try and isolate the issue.

Hello, i did tick the box as it said homepage. Everything else works but when i navigate to another page then go back to the home page it has public_html after it. all other pages have the right address as in articles.html.
I did a simpe site to get use to the software. I just cannot work out why only home is wrong when every other page is right.

I see you used filezilla to ftp the files to the site. So did you publish the site locally then ftp those files?

Why cannot you publish using XSitePro?

In XSP Did you leave the "Home Directory" field blank in "Publishing Details"? For most hosts, this field should be left blank. This could affect the menu on the Home page.

Hello,
I published locally then used filezilla to publish to my webspace. Xsitepro ftp doesn't work as it keeps publishing to my home directory and not public_html. after hours of publishing, deleting and publishing again i gave up and used filezilla as that was the only way i could get the site to go into public_html folder on my server.
I have tried to upload with the home directory left blank and it publishes to home directory and not public_html, i have also tried with that filled in with public_html and still it publishes to home directory and not public_ html, that's why i gave up and used filezilla.

There are hosts to which XSite Pro will not publish properly, no matter what settings you use in Publish.

Hello, it may have been a typing error in the ftp directory box in xsitepro, i cleared the form and re entered the details and it worked, so i assume it was that.
