Hi,

I would like a way to handle coupon codes, also known as promo codes.

I tried buying a 3rd party product some months ago that handles coupon codes, only to encounter problems installing it on my Host4Profit account, and even the product developer gave up trying to help me install it as it was "taking too much time."

With XSitePro2, using Password Redirect, I can handle one coupon code by sending a user to a special page for that coupon code. I make the coupon code the password.

However, is there a way to handle multiple coupon codes?

Example: Display a blank coupon code field. The user enters their coupon code, which is one of many. Some logic then sends the user to a page for that coupon code.

Thanks,
Fabian

Hi fabian,

Most site developers do this by email.
The visitor fills in a E-Mail form, and you send the coupon to that email address.
This way you get something of value (Their email address), and you can control the flow of coupons and make sure that the same customers don't apply many times over

I hope this helps!

The email route is the easiest and most efficient way to obtain a strong email base. I like the idea that Bob23 stated in terms of stopping some users from wanting to request a large amount of coupons or even worse a bot that auto-requests. Yeah I'd definitely go the email route because then you can send them other codes down the line and keep your sales coming.

Hi,

We are considering offering discount coupons as well. You make a good point on handling the process through email...I like the idea of building a customer email database - that's valuable!

It sure is a good way to do things. You have to continue to have valuable messages sent to your visitors with promotions, and/or newsletter content, and tie this in with coupons that you can fully track/test.

This is clever. Did you implement this? Have any problems?
