Hi all. I've finished my new website, http://TemplatesForWordPress.com

I have about the first 100 templates up... I have about another 200 or so ready to load... and I have about 50,000 design ideas.

Best of all I'll be giving away FREE WordPress Templates to boot.

I would really appreciate your feedback. Any thoughts on the website?

Did you use Artisteer for the templates, Jeremiah? They look like Aristeer templates to me. If so, that was a good idea.

Andrea,

Yes, I used Artisteer to design the templates. I can replicate most website design using Artisteer & photoshop. Like using XSitePro, there are some tricks (and limitations) to using Artisteer that many people don't want to trouble themselves with. Although I'm a big supporter of XSitePro, I've had a number of clients who have requested WordPress themes or for me to work on a WordPress based website. I'm just trying to fill that niche. (and I still can't believe that domain name was available!)

If I can get some feedback on these templates, I was thinking of offering some XSitePro templates as WordPress Themes - FOR FREE to the members of the XSP forums. (I have to check if I am breaking any copyright laws with Intellimon first... but I don't think I would be.) I think this would be highly complimentary for XSP users since XSP was not designed as a blogging platform. By creating a complimentary WordPress theme Each XSP template would be far more valuable to end users (which means XSP gurus could make more money selling to their clients)

So if I get some more feedback, perhaps I'll be induced to offer those free themes. (hint hint - provide feedback)

Do you have any specific XSP templates you want made into WP themes? Let me know.

Yes, you totally lucked out on that domain name. Wow! Your site looks awesome too. I downloaded a free template and it looks good. Nice job all around JT.

John,

Thanks for the feedback. I hope you enjoy the template. Please let me know what you think about it.

My intention with that website is to provide low cost high quality WordPress themes. I am happy that I finally have it running. I've been working on it for the last couple of months in my spare time. I have about 200 additional templates already designed that I will add to the website. So you may want to subscribe to the RSS so you can get updates when I start adding those.

But after that I'm going to have to see if the site makes any money. I only have about $500 invested plus lots of man hours - so not a huge loss... but I sure would like the site to take off.

If site visitors would do the following it would really help out:
1 - visit the website http://TemplatesForWordpress.com
2 - VOTE on their favorite templates using the star rating at the bottom of each post
3 - leave a comment on your favorite template and why you like it... or even leave a comment on why you hate it.

And most importantly...

4- download the free template and take a look at it. Then give me some feedback.

Thanks all for your input!

Interesting idea... Any word on that yet?

Nice site!

I recently purchased Artisteer and am impressed with what can be done. Those folks that think the XSite Pro documentation is sparse
should try to learn to use Artisteer with the sparse documentation and no tutorial. Like XSite Pro, it's going to take learning workarounds to get the
most out of Artisteer.

Yes, XSP has tons of documentation compared to Artisteer.

There are PLENTY of work arounds.

But I wouldn't give up XSP just yet. XSP has many unique advantages over other design software... and I don't XSP will be giving up it's crown any time soon.

I have no plans to quit using XSP. I have invested too much time learning how to squeeze the most out of it.
For building static sites, it's hard to beat. I wouldn't even consider going back to Dreamweaver.
Really, my main gripes with XSP are the poor source editor and the WYSIWYG editor trashing valid code.

There are other things that could be better, like more CSS controls, built-in CSS editing, being able to specify panels on a page by page basis, choice of menu placement, better menus (I love the Artisteer menus), etc.

Actually you can pretty much easily place as many XSP dynamic menu wherever you want on your sites. You just need to know how! ;)

I do know how to do this. I'm saying that Intellimon should build more menu placement functionality into XSite Pro.
