Okay thanks but it would be really cool if there was a "Triangle" button in XHeader so we could create our own custom arrows by inserting a line and then creating a triangle we could drag into position for the end of the arrow.
Recently I needed to create a big fat right angle arrow pointing to a "LIKE" button on a Facebook fan page and making the right angle red lines was easy in XHeader, but making the arrow part (the triangle) was a major hassle and still doesn't look perfect.
It would be nice for XHeader to have more graphics.
Since it doesn't, here's a way to roll your own arrows of different shapes, sizes and colors.
It's a multi-step process but the results are pretty good.
To do this, you need Word and GIMP.
Open Word, click on the "Shapes" button and select an arrow.
Place the crosshairs on your page and draw an arrow the size you want.
To get the color you want, right-click on your arrow and select
Format Autoshape.
Click on Fill color you want and select a color (for this example I'm using red).
To get rid of the border around your arrow click the
Line -> Color dropbox and select
No Color.
You should now have a nice red arrow. You can drag the corners to resize. You can also rotate your arrow.
To keep the page form being too huge, resize your page so that the arrow just fits.
Now choose
Save As -> "PDF or XPS" "Red_Arrow1.pdf"
Load GIMP and open the Red_Arrow1.pdf file.
Next, click
File and select
Save As Red_Arrow1.png (I like the option of removing the background that png files offer).
You now have a new arrow graphic. I went ahead and removed the background on the example.
