Hi all

I have built one site http://www.skiriks.com.au to publish my story "Woe to Go in 5" for FREE. Have a read. You may know someone who could benefit from just 20 minutes reading of a story that could be the start to a change in their life they are looking for.

I found XSP to be very easy for a first time like me. After getting a few tips from the friendly folks on this forum, I used the updated headers to change my site and it looks much better now plus with some more helpful suggestions on here, I made my site more personal.

Thanks everyone for your help and for those who have sent emails through my webiste commenting on the story. Much appreciated. :D

Bernie

The Egypt site is excellent, I've been asked to make a site of similar standard and seeing that has given me the confidence to do it.
What did you use to make the header? photoshop?
What did you use to make the slideshow?

Thanks Qualo. Really encouraging to here your comments.

Yes the header was done with photoshop. I got the script for the slide show from Dynamic Drive

Good luck. Would be interested to see what you come up with!

I finally have the courage to post one of my sites..it is a bit different because it is a site for an Internet Golf Radio show. We are using the BlogTalk Radio player (at the moment) because it offers lots of options. However it still has it's downside. I have to update & republish three times per week as there are three shows....I am scared but would love some feedback.

Hi Margie,
Just a word of warning here.
You are using tiger woods' image on your site and some other well known golfers.
Did you get their permission to do so.
Just don't want to see you have a law suit on your hands.

Hi Nadza
My first attempt is www.skiriks.com.au and I found Xsite Pro is real easy to use for a novice.

I just looked at your spaworld site and it looks great. Well done.

Hi,

Quote:

Design is good, but I would get rid of that 'jumping text', the main reason is because that wizard (javascript code) causes Firefox browser to eat up CPU system resources and possibly crash your browser. I found this working with a client side a long time ago. Some of the wizard/scripts in XSP have to be looked at, as they are not efficient, I hope in the new version of XSP (2.5) they can do that.

Alexis.
Wow. That's a nice site for a first try. Heck - That's a nice sire for a 3rd or 4th try.

Here are a few more ideas for you... Please take them in the well intentioned manner they are meant.

1) the colors all blend nicely, BUT the nav bar page names disappear when you click on one. I'd change that.

2) Since you are putting together a photography site, I would have a high use of your images... and a rotating banner or slide show if possible to show off all your good work.

3) You lay out what you do in a very logical no-nonsense fashion... but it doesn't capture the magic of excellent photography. I would try re-writing your page content to tell a story, wrapping your website visitors into the unique experience they have with you.

4) I don't know what's up with the picture of Jesus... but that may turn some people off for religious reasons. Not many people know what the word "Iconography" means. Not everyone's gone to art school and had to sit through art history lessons. I would try to communicate this section of your website better... and get the link to work.

5) Your footer has the wrong background color. it appears to be using #411414 but may be better with #321E0F or even #6B5120

6) dark backgrounds with light lettering is always difficult to read and statistically lessens your reads comprehension of content. I would try to use the standard black text on white background or even an off-white background.

7) There are always options for adding email auto-responders and regularly updated articles. The idea is having new fresh content to keep them coming back to you. Your website might become stagnant if you don't find a way to do this.

8.) Clearly display your contact info in your header. I and everyone I know hates having to hunt for contact info.

There's always something more you can try - these are some of the ideas I suggest to all my clients. (send me a PM if you have questions)

I alo have my website linked in my signature. You can view many of the websites I've designed for others at http://townsendcreations.com/samples.html

Alexis,

Your site looks nice, but you've got some major SEO issues. First, you have a mispelling in your title tags, it reads 'photograp[y' with a bracket? Secondly, you should focus instead on Atlanta Georgia Wedding Photography and not your name in the title, unless you already have thousands of people that know of you by name already... even then, those people already know how to find you, it's the new people that do not, and they will search for wedding photography atlanta.

If you need keyword research or SEO done for your site let me know, through PM here, or through my website.
