I don't know the answer to that just yet - this is very much beta and I haven't tried to import an existing site - but I will :D

I'm excited about version 2. To be honest, since I bought XSitePro recently, I've decided only to practice with version 1 . I'm waiting for version 2 to start my first site to ensure I don't have to convert a version 1 site to a version 2 site (if that is required).

Michael do you happen to know if you will be able to migrate sites built in 1.6 to 2.0 or will you be able to add a few bells and whistles to the old site with 2.0 ?

We're at it night and day and it's coming together really well.

We hit a few big roadblocks, which held things up by quite a few weeks, but we've got through most of those now, just a couple more to go.

We did put out a VERY early beta a few weeks back to a handful of testers. The main reason was to make sure we were aware of all the bugs. We got some terrific feedback from the testers on the new interface and the new features (although many weren't fully working in that beta release). We're now in the last few weeks of fixing all of those bugs and we'll then go to second beta. Then there'll be more fixing and then hopefully the final beta straight after that.

The difficulty with a software package as big as this, and with as many new features as in V2, is that it takes a LONG time just to test it.

But the great news is that when it does finally pop out the other end it really will have been worth the wait. I've been building some test sites with it and I'm absolutely stunned by what it can do - and it's just going to keep getting better and better :D

Hi Michael

Yes, all V1 sites should be automatically converted to V2 sites.

We need to complete the development first, before we put that in, as until everything in V2 is completely signed off, it's not possible to write the conversion routines. But, the answer is definitely a yes :D

Paul

Hi Paul,

Congrats on the progress and like many others am very happy to hear that version 2 will be released soon. Just wanted to let you know that even the current version rocks and the software has paid itself back hundreds if not thousands time over for me.

Anyway, I was thinking about what I should get myself for Xmas and do you think it will be out by then as that would be a Christmas present I would really like to give myself

Thanks for the reply Paul ...

I just can't wait for xsitepro 2.0 to come out!

... and as George said, version 1 still rocks and for me, it too has paid for itself many times over. :)

it says on the FAQ

" What is the upgrade policy?
We value your business and so have implemented an upgrade policy that we feel is fair to everyone. Here's how it works. All upgrades within the same major version number are completely free. For example you can upgrade from version 1.00 right through to 1.99 without any charges at all. Major upgrades, e.g. going from version 1.xx to 2.00 will be chargeable, but at a substantial discount to existing users."

Can someone confirm please, if I buy now, I will have to pay extra for V2?

Garry

I gotta admit - I'm not feeling very patient. I bought v1 in June with the understanding that v2 was imminent. Five months later, the "notices" and promises are not any different than over a year before. I have thrown something together with v1, but never hit it real hard expecting v2 to come out. When you say "soon" at this point, do you mean in the next couple weeks, or 2009? If it's not going to be in the next couple weeks, I gotta look for something else.

Re upgrade from V1 to V2 free?
I would have thought they would have removed that thing in the FAQ that states there will be a cost,
I still cant find where it says V2 will be a free upgrade on the xsitepro.com site
not that it bothers me, it just seems a little wierd.

How far back could someone have ordered the current version and be eligible for the new version at no extra cost?
