I wish i could help ya...
but that's too hard for me to handle....

Anybody here know
something we could do about PM spam?

Is this a big problem.
or better handled by a quick delete and ignore?

Jim

I think the forum equivalent of the stocks would suffice.

Why not publish them in the forum? Sort of a 'Name & Shame' program!

LOL

Cheers
Jim

Hi Jim,

I've never had a spam PM from this board.

Since your namesake has only been a member for 1 day, I suspect his question is rhetorical. :)

Good point, H.
I'm sure they are working on THAT script now,
down in the bowels of many spammer workshops.

I've Never had one,
and I let trillian connect me most all the time.

Actually, the question wasn't rhetorical.

And as for being a member of the board for one day, what difference does that make? Spam is Spam, no matter how long a person has been a member.

I have been a member here for more than two years, but due to a HD crash, lost my log-in details.

So maybe we need a definition of Spam in the board. For instance, are 'special offers' sent to members of the board through a PM considered Spam?. Particularly when there is a 'Special offers' section.

I know that on a majority of boards, contacting members through PM's regarding 'offers' is considered Spam.

Or is it just matter unrelated to the board subject that is considered Spam?

Questions, questions, flooding through the minds of the concerned young youth of today (with apologies to Frank Zappa) :)

Jim

Can I make a suggestion?

Rather than us all send you a PM and fill your inbox over and over with the same request. Why not post a request to this thread?
That way we can all see if it's already been reported and you could update it with a simple 'done' or similar?

Shall I start us off?

SPAM alert :)

Good idea, especially as I've already PM'd Jim about that one.

Maybe a sticky thread for the job?

Hi All....

Well, the spambots are taking a summer break,
and even the cantankerous postings seem to have
died down a tad during this hot hot summer.

I'm just posting this to kick the thread back up high
so folks can pick it up again...

Thanks Leslie, Jason, Michael, and all
for helping me/us keep this a (reasonably) friendly corner...

Jim
PS.... and when you see **** show up here,
just drop me a pm, and I'll flush it....
