I have a problem using the xsitetest site. I followed the instructions on how to enter the fields. They are as follows:

Domain Name: http://www.xsitetest.com
Home Directory: dave

FTP Server: ftp.xsitetest.com
FTP Directory: dave

FTP User Name: dave
FTP Password: ................

When I click Test FTP Connection I get the error message:FTP Connection Error Unable to login

I'm I doing something wrong? If so how can I correct it

The username and password are always testusername and testpassword. Change those and you should be okay.

Domain Name: www.xsitetest.com
Home Directory: johndoe [Your Name]

FTP Server: ftp.xsitetest.com
FTP Directory: johndoe [Your Name]

FTP User Name: testusername
FTP Password: testpassword

That connected me. When I clicked on view live site it showed what I think is template site callen Carpet Central.com. My site that I want to test is a church site named CHBC. Any suggestions?

Try a different username. Likely someone else has used that name before. This is just a test server, so it's not "personal." However, I would have thought your upload would overwrite the original dave's site, but maybe that's not how it works.

I just tested my name: http://www.xsitetest.com/andreawilson/ (I published an empty template as a test.)

No, leave the FTP Username and FTP Password alone. Change Home Directory and FTP Directory to davefraser.

Do your Publishing Details look exactly like this?

Domain Name: www.xsitetest.com
Home Directory: davefraser

FTP Server: ftp.xsitetest.com
FTP Directory: davefraser

FTP User Name: testusername
FTP Password: testpassword

Well, that's exactly how I got it to work:

Domain Name: www.xsitetest.com
Home Directory: andreawilson

FTP Server: ftp.xsitetest.com
FTP Directory: andreawilson

FTP User Name: testusername
FTP Password: testpassword

Have you checked to make sure there's no typo, capitalization or maybe a space in the wrong place?

I checked and it's all correct. Still get the 404. I notice that if I change the Home Directory and FTP Directory back to dave from davefraser I get connected to the sample Carpet site

It might have to do with your IP address. I can't seem to create a second account, even if I use a completely different FTP Directory/Home Directory name. Is it possible that you successfully created an account in the past?

I don't follow about the account question. This is the first time I use publishing details is that what you mean? I haven't published this site anywhere else
