I second that, too.
On some of my pages I have included i-frames that are quite wide (and have to be wide in order to work). They stick out to the right. If I could suppress the left panel on these pages, the i-frames would fit. Without the left panel (menu) my visitors would still be able to navigate the site -- they could use the breadcrumb trail or info bar instead. As one can see, the info bar also sticks out to the right -- as a consequence of the wide i-frame. The page would look less awkward if I could at least find a way to have a fixed width for the info bar.
