I like the dynamic menu buttons.

However, I would like have top button act more like a Category Heading (like Reviews) which is not linked to anything. As a work around, I have to link the top button to the Home page (this is occurs for several top buttons, which is confusing to the user).

Unfortunately this is not a function that is a part of XSitePro. I am not sure of a good workaround for you. Hopefully one of the others have an idea for a work around.

I'm guessing you've tried using "Categories"? It's not a button, but might be helpful as a separator between different Menu sections.

Add a Category by clicking the "Other" button that's between the "Add Page" and "Delete" buttons, above the list of pages when "Web Pages" is selected (too bad there are two "Other" buttons!) Then you can have

ACTORS => Category, change the background, colors, etc. Or, use an image.
1st actor => button
2nd actor => button

ACTRESSES => Category. For actresses, you may want to use an image as a separator.
Marilyn Monroe => button
Ursula Andress => button

Saybrah,

Thanks for sharing that code. I found it to work very well as a Page Title to create a page that is a placeholder,then added sub-pages to it.

While it worked as a Catagory as well, that does not allow sub-pages.

In any event, thanks for sharing.

i actually want to request that they would allow you to add code without the font code there. my example would be to split the menu up with an ad or something

Thanks for the feedback. I'm using the dynamic menus (the above I suspect is good for static menus).

If I can turn off the link to the top menu botton, then only the sub-menus would be active. But, alas, I have no access to the code for the menu (or do I?).

By adding a property to the property box that would turn off the link (so it acts as a Category), that would solve the problem.

How about some tabbed navigation.

I recently ran into the same issue when I went to re do my nav menu. Make the first item on the menu just a heading not a real page....or at least give us the choice so we do not have to make duplicate pages.

So I third it !

Edit: To make it clear to the coding team:
We need the ability for a Category Heading to be used as a "parent page" in the navigation menu.
I know we can get the same effect by using a page as the parent page, but the problem is that
then the text in the dynamic navigation menu would be an active link to that parent page.
Give us the option to only link to the subpages, having the parent as simple text.

Definitely needed. Xsitepro is giving us a huge arsenal to contend with the ever present push to blog-til-you-drop mindset. Eventually people will accept that blogging is not the sure fire quickest way to internet success its touted to be regardless to the never ending addons and refocus on what's worked from day one. Xsitepro team, take heed to these minor suggestions and continue the small version updates like you did in the past and watch your community volley this software to new heights.

TLTman,
I have to second your statement.
I worked with the original XSP when it came out. Last year changed all my sites over to WP blogs and with my increasing number of sites, the upkeep became very time consuming, no matter what the blog believer say. Constant upgrades, then non-compatibility with plugins and themes, caused some times complete redo of a blog site...
Few months ago I finally went back and started a XSP site, working through total 1,400 pages of tutorials and guides and came surprisingly fast together. Biggest surprise, several of my re-converted sites rank higher and moire traffic than before as a blog.

Most important, back to the main issue here, when a company listen to the "people in the market", communicates, updates, and makes small improvements, equals longevity by client satisfaction, more word of mouth = more sales. Just a win-win situation. :D
