Hi All,

Quick question.

There is a nice display window toward the top of kiplinger.com, just below the main header and to the left, that cycles through 5 images with some captions below each image. See screenshot below.

I'm wondering what this tool is called.

It's not quite a banner rotator.

And its more than just a slide show.

And it's different from a lightbox.

So what the heck do you call it?

Any suggestions on what this tool is called would be much appreciated.

I'm asking because I haven't seen anything quite like this in XSitePro and
thinking it might be a nice feature request.

It's an image-combobulator.

Just kidding It's actually a flash image gallery - there are loads of these about and each one typically requires you upload a script, reference said script in the head section of your page (via the advanced page settings >> scripts tab) and then add a piece of code (pointing to the assorted images) in the body of your page - where you want the gallery to appear.

This is something we've been looking at for a while... but the scripts out there already are not anything we can simply grab and include (they're other people's products at the end of the day, and typically the usage rights would not permit it). This said, we will see what we can do. And in the meantime, if you search for "flash image gallery" or "Image Carousel" or "JQuery Gallery" you'll find a whole bunch of scripts.

That thing is cool! The neat thing about that Flash player is that they have a transparent overlay with 3 links at the bottom of the images. I did a quick view source and it looks like they're using Microsoft Silverlight to do some things.

They peeps over at the Warrior Forum are calling it a "Content Slideshow".

I think that is probably a good name for it.
