Help,

I uploaded an iStock photo for my web header (both large and small sizes). I resized it to work with the width and heigth of my web page. Now, however, the picture is not as sharp as the original. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Jim

Hi, Jim,

All images must be re-sized using an image editor NOT XSitePro.This means that all images imported into the Resource Manager in XSitePro must have already been FIRST re-sized in Photoshop, Gimp or an online image editor. You can even use the photo editor that came with your digital camera.

I use the GIMP for most of my image work. http://getgimp.com/lp/index.php?pk=6542

An easier to use alternate is Paint.NET. http://www.getpaint.net/.

Like GIMP, Paint.NET is free to download and use.

Make sure that you have enough pixel density when you resize. It has been said that 72dpi is fine for the web. I use 256dpi and don't worry about pixel erosion. You can experiment and see what works/looks best. I rarely work with less than 200 dpi.

Thank-you for your replies.

I used paint. The issue is when I resize the picture to work with my header size 900 by 290 pixels, the image is not as sharp but a little distorted. Any ideas?

Thx,

Jim

Did you make sure Constrain Proportions was checked when you re-sized the image? What resolution did you save it in?
