Hello everyone,

Just working on a new website for a client...
Have published it temporarily to www.test.gregcooksley.com

I have used an existing template which I modified.
Have used the Slider from Cryer in the header. There are several challenges that I have as follows:
1. How do I position the Slider in the centre of the header?
2. The images are not behaving as they should and seem to be loading outside of the "container" to the right and then settling back within the container.
How do I correct this?

3. Then I can't seem to get the horizontal Navigation Menu to line up in the grey infobar. How do I fix that?

4. Then there is a large white space that sits between the Left Sidebar and the text in the Main Panel which I can't seem to reduce. How do I fix this?

The website for Cryer is http://www.cryer.co.uk/resources/javasc ... deshow.htm

Your help is appreciated...

Bestb regards

Greg

Hi Greg

1. How do I position the Slider in the centre of the header?
a: put a table in the header, 100% x 100% and then right click in it and choose cell options
set it to center and middle, then put the slider in there

2. The images are not behaving as they should and seem to be loading outside of the "container" to the right and then settling back within the container.
How do I correct this?
a: Not 100% sure but I think if you set the slider to overflow: hidden; that may work

3. Then I can't seem to get the horizontal Navigation Menu to line up in the grey infobar. How do I fix that?
a: that is a padding issue, set your info bar to 0px padding, if you need to then adjust it add 1 at a time
or adjust the menu properties not sure with that particular style but play with it and it will come right

4. Then there is a large white space that sits between the Left Sidebar and the text in the Main Panel which I can't seem to reduce. How do I fix this?

look at the image you have spacing and alignment issues, that are easily fixed

hope that helps

Thanks Cap,

Still playing around with the slider and the navigation menu as well...

However, just can't reduce the huge white space between the left sidebar and the Main panel.
Interestingly, the Main panel is 800px wide at the moment. If I reduce it nothing changes. But if I increase it to 900px
the text in the main panel shifts right over to the left sidebar like it should....weird.

How would you adjust the alignment issues?
I'm cross-eyed from looking at it and can't make head or tail of it???

Regards

Greg

Hey Cap,

BTW the Slider was already in a table...Played around with the table source code and don't know exactly what
I did but suddenly the slider moved to the centre and stopped shifting out of place like before.

Somehow, in the Infobar, there were some border "widths" set at 581px in place which I set to 0px and the Main panel text
jumped back into line as well. Didn't know that the parameters in the Info bar could impact
the alignment in the Main panel.

Still can't get the horizontal Nav menu to align itself properly......drats
I suspect it's the code in the Info bar????
Will you look at the source code?

EDIT: Published the changes so that you can look at it.

Help...
Regards

Greg

the table containing the slider is pushing the nav bar down
view the source in xsp and you will see
<p>
<script type="text/javascript">
</p>

take the
<p>

</p>
out and leave

<script type="text/javascript">

that may sort it

Cap;)
