My tag-category pages are ranking way higher than my actual pages.
Is there a reason for this and can I do anything about it? :?

Let me get this straight...
What kind of queries are we talking about?
It would make sense for them to rank for some navigational queries, where those tag-cat-pages would be most valuable pages (containing links to all them info pages).
If they are ranking for info queries... like if you have a page about lemon pie and the query is "lemon pie", and the tag-category page has no info about lemon pies, just a link to that page, then that would suck balls.
I don't use those tag pages, so maybe someone can add some comments about this issue.

OK, I'll try and explain.

The query is yellow lemon pies for sale and the page that shows in the serps is //....com/tag-category-yellow-lemon-pies-for-sale.html

On that page are 2 links, one to this page

...com/lemon-pies-for-sale/yellow-lemon-pies-for-sale.html

and one link to this page

...com/lemon-pies-for-sale/yellow-lemon-pies-for-sale-uk.html

Obviously I want to sell a lot of lemon pies, and have identified 2 distinct searches hence the uk kw variation.

I didn't make that page, xsitepro made it, I'm not really complaining about the result, just curious as to what I need to do to get one or the other pages ranking outright.

Now, having said all that, I've just gone and checked my results and I can see that in the same lemon pie category, I have a green one, and that page ranks outright, but for green pies I don't have a UK variant.

(They're actually cars) and those keywords are identical apart from one model ends in 8 (UK), and one model ends in 6.

I don't suppose there's any way I can get images to appear on these tag-catgory pages?

Without seeing your site (feel free to PM me the URL with all related info)...

..My guess would be, that the tag-cat-page ranks better based on the URL (no directory: domain.com/tag-cat-kw vs a directory: domain.com/kw/kw) + you might have duplicate content. Like is the content similar in the uk and the not uk pages?
Well, in any case, if it's even a semi popular query, Google will rank it properly sooner or later.
(Especially, if you get backlinks to the content pages.)
(If a human valuator from Google took a look and still thought your tag-cat-page would be better, then the most appropriate page for that query would indeed be the tag-cat-page. Like if someone is searching for reviews about big ass city cars, and your tag-cat page has links to a bunch of cool review pages about those big ass city cars, then :D
(assuming those review pages only contained one car each)

P.S. Maybe you want to make a feature request about the image in tag-pages-thing.

P.P.S. I don't like that URL structure, though, but maybe that's the only way to go about it...
