1. Install WordPress in a folder on your server

2. In XSite Pro in the Web Pages tab, locate the "Other" button above the list of web pages and next to the Add Page button. Click the Other button and select External Link

3. Add the URL for your WordPress folder to the Link URL line: http://www.mywesite.com/myblogfolder

4. Add the text that you want to appear on your XSite Pro menus to the Menu Text line: My Blog

In WordPress, you can add a link to the WordPress menu that takes the Blog visitor back to the Home page of your website.

Copy likes to give you the cheap/free way to do things. That's fine (in some situations). In case you're looking to make it 'match' your current XSitePro template, there are some that do, and it can be important for some websites. I just completed one last week - and they definitely require a matched template. Their template match header includes rotating images as well as an appointment booking form, not something you can do easily with WordPress on your own.

Here's a link to the service I provide where I do the integration for you using your current XSitePro Template:

...and most of the time, Brett's solution seems to be pay Brett to do it for you...

If you want match your blog to your current website (something of dubious value), I suggest you purchase
Xsite Pro to WordPress for $49 http://xsiteprotowordpress.com. You get a PDF with detailed instructions,
as well as the files needed to help make the job easier. The author also provides help and support way beyond what one would expect for a $49 product.

Another alternative is to purchase Artisteer 3 for $49.95, a WYSIWYG system that will create your WordPress theme to match your website. http://www.artisteer.com

As CopyWolf says, making your blog match your Web site is of dubious value. There are far better places to spend your money or time. Everyone expects your blog to be different from your Web site, so there's little reason to go to all that effort. A similar header is the most you'll need... and even that's not necessary.

I have an xsitepro site that i have started - wilmington-nc-wedding.com
And i also created a blog at wordpress - wilmingtonncwedding.com

1. Install WordPress in a folder on your server

I used fantastico from hostgator using this tutorial to do this. http://www.hostgator.com/tutorials/word ... astico.htm

However, when i go to wilmington-nc-wedding.com/blog it goes to a weird page. im a bit confused.

Was this the wrong move?

2. In XSite Pro in the Web Pages tab, locate the "Other" button above the list of web pages and next to the Add Page button. Click the Other button and select External Link

should i do this yet?

3. Add the URL for your WordPress folder to the Link URL line: http://www.mywesite.com/myblogfolder

4. Add the text that you want to appear on your XSite Pro menus to the Menu Text line: My Blog

In WordPress, you can add a link to the WordPress menu that takes the Blog visitor back to the Home page of your website.

where is this at?

thanks for your help... im clueless!

It appears that Fantastico installed the WordPress files, but either didn't complete the installation or didn't install a default theme.
I just took a look and what comes up is a list of your WordPress files.
I added /wp-admin to the URL and the list of the files in the admin folder were listed. A login panel should have come up.
This leads me to believe that you have a bad install.

I would go back to Fantastico, remove the installation and start over. HostGator Support can help you: (866) 964-2867

If you are going to use WordPress, you need to learn more about it.

This will help: Getting Started with WordPress

Note: do not use admin as your Admin user name. It makes your blog easier to hack.
Personally, I don't use Fantastico (or any of the one-key installers). I prefer to install WordPress manually.
In the past, I have used Fantastico on HostGator and it installed WordPress just fine.

Adding your website URL to the WP menu:
Once you get WordPress installed and running, login with /wp-admin and look for "Appearance" on the left side of the WordPress Dashboard.
Look for Menus and click on it.
On the left side of the Menus page find Custom Links
Enter the full URL for your website : http://www.wilmington-nc-wedding.com/
Enter the text you want to appear on the WordPress menu in the Label box : Wilmington Wedding Home
Click the Add to Menu button
Click the blue Save Menu button

Note that, by default, WordPress will name your WP home page "Home." While you're in the Menus area, you can rename this to whatever your want.

Thanks for your help!

So, now i have...

xsitepro site - wilmington-nc-wedding.com
wordpress blog - wilmingtonncwedding.wordpress.com

Should i have a link on my xsitepro site linking back to blog? If so, what is the best way to go about this? Just throw a link up on home page?

Thanks,

Chris

Use the External Link option to add links to the navigation menu(s).
