Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get web 2.0 style XSP templates? I realize XSP is table based, but I'm sure someone out there has created XSP sites with web 2.0 type graphics.

Thanks,

Jacci

Hi Jacci,

Do you have any link examples of some designs you need done?

I haven't seen many designs that I can't recreate with XSP.

Best of luck!

Patrick

I am also looking for updated Web 2.0 styles. Is there another thread with information on this?

Thanks Brian, I will check out the designer you suggested. Are there any resources other than professional web design firms? The XSP community is large enough that there are probably forums somewhere with advice about "what works" and "how to... " It would be great to have resources for how to adapt XSP to create the modern, streamlined Web 2.0 style pages without hiring someone or purchasing custom templates.

Hi AtomAnt,

Can I ask what it is you mean by 'Web2' templates.
I ask this because 'Web2' is a phrase that is banded about, mainly by marketing folk that know nothing, do describe what they think that they have done that is new and different.

The generally excepted meaning of Web 2.0 is where website visitors can add content on to the web page.
Examples being FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.

If this is what you want then the closest we get is the XCommentPro add-on:

Hi Ben, thanks for asking about this topic. Aside from the functional aspects this term refers to, there are design conventions that have now become the norm. For this reason, it is evidently what the public looks for as a sign or symbol of credibility, an important point for internet marketers.

Maybe the best explanation I've seen is at this website (I have no connection to these sites other than when I Googled around to find something for conceptualizing a "web 2.0 style" of design ):

http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web ... yle-guide/

Examples of web 2.0 design can be found everywhere, but here are some:

http://www.onextrapixel.com/2009/08/27/ ... showcases/

http://www.smsweb.co.za/

http://www.designzzz.com/fresh-examples ... nterfaces/

After much experimentation using Photoshop, I have been able to create some pseudo-Web 2.0 style templates for my sites using XSP. If there is an easier way, methods, or tools that could adapt XSP to this evolving style, I would like to discover it.

Best, atomAnt

OP posted this some time ago and there has not been much response. Is it that web 2.0 style is not possible using Xsitepro ?

There is absolutely no reason why you can't design Web 2.0 sites in XSitePro. The 100% width footer is a bit tricky, but I have a $7 report that tells you exactly how to do this.

Have a look at this one: http://www.allwebmenuspro.com. It was built in XSitePro but I used AllWebMenus Pro to do the top navigation and those big rollover buttons part way down the page.

And here are some working examples of custom sites I have built in XSitePro: http://www.verityhealth.ca, http://enschiropractic.com, http://www.aegishealthinsurance.com, http://www.heroflare.com.

I have several more examples, but you can only add five links to a forum post.

Anyone seeing these examples would agree that these are very nice looking designs, possibly the best XSP templates I've seen. The obvious question for most reading these posts, actually 2 questions: How can I make my site look this cool? and, does Intellimon have plans to include this quality of template in its stock templates that come with the program's purchase? (and I guess a 3rd question may be, "If these are not included with the program, or some way to create these ourselves, why not?")

1. Most XSitePro owners wanting this type of site, do what any business would do, they hire a Web designer.

2. Whether the quality will improve, I can't say. Regardless of the quality, XSitePro will always have to include generic templates, but most people want custom sites for their business.

3. The way to create these templates IS included with XSitePro, or I wouldn't be able to create them. However, as with any other tool, each person using it has different abilities. I'm a Web designer, so I have a distinct advantage when it comes to using an HTML editor like XSitePro. I also know how to use Photoshop so I can create the graphics, too.

Could not let this thread go without a comment

I totally agree with atomAnt on this issue and his assessment of the websites provided by ablewebs. They are some of the best I have seen using XSP.

The templates provided with xsitepro are quite frankly "not up to the standards of this wonderful software." Don't get me wrong I LOVE xsitepro and the ease of use is fantastic. I remember the days of Frontpage and I do not ever want to go back, but the look of the templates provided is dated and boring. I fear the XSP community is being left behind by web 2.0 and wordpress style sites.

People like me do not have the time or the ability to learn how to customize our sites. That's why XSP templates are sooooo..... appealing. I will happily spend my money on new templates like those asked for in this thread.

The software is solid. Done. Now we need new templates guys. Sorry for being blunt.

Yes, beautiful Web 2.0 (or 3.0!) templates would be nice, but they will still be generic. There are thousands of cheap Web 2.0 templates available on the Web right now, most of which can be adapted to XSitePro, but almost everyone still wants a custom design for their business, or they want a generic template customized for their business.

If you have a logo, you'll want it incorporated directly into your header. If you have an attractive or recognizable storefront, you might want that incorporated into your header. If you have your own industry photos, you might want those incorporated into your header. Often the people in generic headers don't suit your demographics, so the header will often need to be redone anyway.

You'll likely want text on your header that's crisp and that uses a really nice, special font. With a generic template, unless you know how to add text in an image editor, you'll have to type your title text over top of the header using one of the few Web fonts available. Note: Web fonts look pixelated, especially at large sizes, but text created in a graphics editor like Photoshop is crisp and clean at any size.

There are some inexpensive, generic Web 2.0 XSitePro templates here, but you'd still want to customize them to suit your business! http://www.xsiteprotemplates.com
