The Keywords Tab lets you choose which keywords will be used for the meta data for the pages you import. You have several options to choose from and these are described below.
The above screenshot shows how the keywords appear in the Head section of your page. Don't worry if the above code does not make any sense to you as XSitePro looks after all of this for you. All you need to do is make a decision as to what keywords you would like XSitePro to use automatically in the Head section of each of the import pages.
The keywords that are imported or entered on the Keywords Tab page will automatically appear in the keywords box on the Info tab of the Web pages after the have been imported. This means you can, if you wish, go in and edit them manually after the import process has been completed.
The screen above shows the Keywords tab, in the Import Pages window. You can choose from any one of the following options.
Use just the imported Keywords – Choose this option if you want to use the keywords that already appear in the Head section of the pages you are importing. This can often be the best choice if you know that keywords that are used in the Head section of the imported pages have already been well chosen. If you are unsure then it is probably best to go with one of the other options where you have a little more control.
Leave the Keywords Blank – This option will result in no keywords being imported even if there are keywords listed under the keywords meta tag of the imported pages. This option can be suitable if you wish to deal with the keywords manually on a page by page basis after the import procedure has completed.
Add the keywords below to the end of the imported ones – This option lets you enter a list of the keywords into the box at the bottom of the Keywords Tab and have those words and phrases added automatically at the end of the list of keywords that already appears in the page that is about to be imported. This is ideal for quickly and easily adding generic keywords to the end of the keyword list for every imported page.
Add the keywords below to the beginning of the imported ones – This option lets you enter a list of the keywords into the box on the right hand side of the Keywords Tab and have those words and phrases added automatically at the start of the list of keywords that already appears in the page that is about to be imported. This is ideal for quickly and easily adding generic keywords to the beginning of the keyword list for every imported page.
Replace the imported keywords with the ones to the right – This option simply replaces any existing keywords in the Head section of the imported pages with the list of keywords you specify in the keywords box to the right hand side of the Keywords tab page. This can often be preferable to importing a great many pages with keywords that are inappropriate to the existing site or would dilute the keyword focus you are trying to create.
Use the keywords, right, if the imported page doesn't have any – This option can be very useful as it allows you to specify a list of keywords that will only be used if the page you imported doesn't already have some keywords specified. This means that by default the imported page will use the keywords that already appear in the Head section for the imported page and will only use the new keyword on those occasions when no keywords currently exist.
You can choose from the options available simply by clicking on the relevant option text.
The box to the right side of the screen is where you may enter your additional keywords / phrases (one per line) that you want adding to the imported pages (where the option selected above warrants).
