An inbound link is one that comes from another site into your site. For example if you have a friend who has a site specializing in your home city and he puts a link on his site that links through to your Pizza Shop Web site then the link from his site to yours would be classed as an inbound link.

Conversely, if you put a link on your Pizza Shop Web site to your friends site then the link is classed as an outbound link from your Web site.

Basically, any link that leaves your site is outbound and anything that comes from any other place into your Web site is an inbound link.
